    A Day of Ancient Chateaux, Historical Towns and French Gastronomy

    Today you are going to experience two exquisite French Châteaux, each with their own rich histories and treasures.
    Have your camera ready, because you will capture some amazing photos of the Loire valley and the vistas from the Castle viewpoints.
    And of course, there is plenty of amazing French food and wine to treat yourself today!
    If you are into a pleasant picnic, your first stop, a gorgeous 13th century castle, offers astounding gardens for this option, so you might like to get some sandwiches before starting the trip.

    Bring history alive with a guided visit of the exquisite Château de Saumur. Since the early 13th Century, Kings and Dukes made this palace their royal residence.
    A Historic Monument since 1862, today, it is a treasure-filled castle just waiting for you to explore its rooms and masterpieces. The ceramics, in particular, are very noteworthy.
    Guided tours in English are available and there are also English language supplements with detailed information about the exhibits.
    You may wish to bring a picnic to enjoy in the gardens (from 15 June - 15 September) or have lunch at the adjacent Restaurant L'Orangeraie in the courtyard of the Château de Saumur (next stop in your route).

    The Castle of d'Angers covers an amazing 6000 years of history! From English aristocrats, to a prison, the residence of a King and now a tourist attraction, man has inhabited part of this ancient structure since Neolithic times.
    While the castle holds many interesting and unmissable objects, the most incredible is surely the Tapestry of the Apocalypse, commissioned in 1375 by Duke Louis the First. Don't miss seeing this and be sure to wander the gorgeous gardens surrounding the castle.
